Tomato Chutney

As I said earlier, there are various types of chutneys for tiffins. Though we prefer coconut chutney, for change you can try tomato chutney. If you are making it for dosa, spread the chutney on it before removing from the pan.

Ingredients:

-1 cup chopped tomatoes
-1/4 cup chopped onions
-1/4 tsp jeera
-1 to3 dry red chillies
-pinch of turmeric 
-small piece coconut (opt)
-small piece tamarind
-small piece ginger(opt)
-salt
-2 tsp oil
-1 curry leaf

Procedure:

-except oil and curryleaf , grind all together.
-taste it. if needed add salt or chilli powder or tamarind.
-heat oil in a small sauce pan/vessel. Fry curry leaf. Add grinded paste and stir it continuesly for 5 min. till it lost its raw smell.
-ready to serve.

Tips:

-you can substitute red chillies with powder and tamarind piece with extract.
-if you spread the chutney on dosa before spreading curry for masala dosa , the taste doubles.
-for better taste keep tarka in the oil and then add paste.
